CARA ANSTEY is an Associate at Boyarski Fritz LLP, with a focus on contract drafting, negotiation, intellectual property issues and licensing for the firm’s entertainment clients in music, film, television, and new media industries.  Cara's primarily works with the firm’s recording artists, songwriters, producers, influencers, management companies, production companies, record labels, influencers, distributors and music publishers.

 

Before joining the firm, Cara was an Associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP in the Intellectual Property & Data Privacy group.  There, Cara worked on a wide array of major corporate transactions including the sale of BMI to a New Mountain Capital-led shareholder group.

While in law school, Cara was a legal intern at Sony Music Entertainment.  Cara was also Boyarski Fritz LLP’s very own legal intern where she worked on a variety of entertainment related transactions and research projects.

Cara graduated magna cum laude from Brooklyn Law School where she earned a certificate in Intellectual Property, Media, and Information Law. Cara served as the Executive Symposium Editor of the Brooklyn Law Review and as the Co-President of the Brooklyn Entertainment & Sports Law Society.

Prior to law school, Cara was a creative executive at Primary Wave Music, where she handled a variety of A&R and creative functions for songwriters, producers and artists in the music publishing and management divisions.

Cara holds a Bachelor’s Degree from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study where her colloquium, The Political Implications of Music and Their Effect on the American Psyche, focused on the intersection of music and politics.

Cara is a member of the New York State Bar and lives in both Brooklyn and the Catskills, NY.
