VAUGHN BOBB is an Associate in Boyarski Fritz LLP’s New York office, where he handles a variety of matters in the areas of music, film/television, new media and intellectual property, with a specific expertise in music licensing, recorded music issues and artist-related transactions.  Vaughn’s practice includes contract drafting, negotiation and advisory for the firm’s clients including recording artists, songwriters, producers, management companies, music publishers, record labels/distributors, influencers, podcast companies, digital companies, and many more.   

 

Before joining Boyarski Fritz LLP, Vaughn spent over 5 years at Sony Music Entertainment, where he held a variety of posts including his most recent position in the Business Affairs Administration department.  There, Vaughn managed a broad range of business affairs and IP licensing matters for a roster of over 150 artists as part of a centralized group that serviced all Sony-affiliated record labels, including RCA, Epic, Arista, Sony Nashville and Columbia Records. In addition to drafting and negotiating a high volume of commercial transactions which included feature artist agreements, label waivers, live venue agreements, product placement agreements, master use licenses, artwork agreements and podcast agreements. Vaughn has also advised on many unique legal issues involving trademark/copyright, as well as other developing areas of law including NFT and cryptocurrency matters.

 

Prior to joining Sony Music, Vaughn held internships during law school at a variety of entertainment companies including Atlantic Records, Downtown Music Publishing and Sedlmayr & Associates, P.C..

 

​Vaughn earned his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School, with a concentration in IP, Media and Information Law and earned various merit scholarships including the Raymond E. Lisle Scholarship.  There, Vaughn served as co-president of the Brooklyn Entertainment & Sports Law Society. 

 

Prior to law school, Vaughn briefly worked for the New York Yankees after receiving his undergraduate degree from the College of Charleston.

 

Vaughn is a member of the New York State Bar.
